Tents 50seater Ten Ten T
The tent is one of the so-called big three pieces of equipment that make up most of the weight carried on the route. It also includes a sleeping system (sleeping bag mat) and a backpack. In the Big Three, the tent is the heaviest element, and using a lighter model allows you to noticeably lighten your load on the route.
Today we will look at the lightest tents available in the modern outdoor industry and in the Sport-Marathon store in particular.
Usually, super-light tents are understood as models weighing less than a kilogram per user. Thus, a 2-person tent must weigh less than two kilograms to be considered very light indeed. In fact, the average weight of ultra-light "kopeck pieces" today hovers around 1.5 kg. For 1-seater ultralight tents, the requirements are slightly more sparing: the weight can be about a kilogram, although much lighter models are on the market.
Nordisk Lofoten 2 ULW - ultra-light and ultra-compact bad weather tent
The Nordisk Lofoten 2 ULW is one of the lightest two-man tents in the world, and certainly the smallest among them. With all t Tents 50seater Ten Ten T he contents: tent parts, pegs, covers and a small repair kit - it weighs only 730 grams, and its package size is 11x22 cm. That is, a little more than a liter bottle! The closest competitors of Nordisk Lofoten in the 2-person tent up to 1 kg segment take up much more space - only their length in the package is 35-45 cm.
Nordisk Lofoten tents are not suitable for everyone. They are designed for racing athletes looking to keep weight and equipment as low as possible. For example, for participants in adventure multi-races, ultra-marathons, superbearing bike or self-sustaining autonomous bike races. And like any ultralight gear, these tents will fit in with super light walkers.
Nordisk Lofoten tents are unique in their own way, so we dedicated a whole article to them, where we analyzed their features in all details. And here we will only dwell on the main ones.
For the ultra-compact dimensions and very low weight, Nordisk designers sacrificed the living volume of the Lofoten tents. There is practically no tambour in them, you can squeeze in together only if you sleep with a jack, and the height is minimal - you can sit comfortably and even more so you will not be able to change clothes. Only the length was left normal, even a tall tourist can stretch out to his full height inside. It turned out to be a cross between a comfortable tent and a bivvy bag.
You won't be able to sit inside the Nordisk Lofoten 1-2 ULW, and it's better to undress outside. But for sleeping, this is a quite comfortable 2-layer tent, which in terms of weight-to-living volume ratio bypasses most bivy bags © Martin Paldan, martinpaldan.com
Despite its amazingly light weight, Nordisk Lofoten ULW tents are comfortable in inclement and cold weather: the awning is lowered and the inner canopy is sewn with a minimum of mesh. Therefore, you can walk with them until late autumn © Nordisk
But the rest of the functionality of the Nordisk Lofoten ULW was practically unaffected. The tents are made of lightweight, but strong enough materials - you only need to be careful with the siliconized awning, but it is still stronger and more durable than the Dyneema awnings at the Big Agnes and Terra Nova tents. Nordisk Lofoten provides excellent protection from inclement weather: they are wind-resistant, the low edge of the awning protects well against slanting rain and drafts, and the inner tent is almost entirely made of dense fabric. Even the ventilation windows have been preserved to reduce the risk of heavy condensation.
The frame of the tents is external, so you can set them up even under snowfall and downpour - quickly and without wetting the inner tent. It also makes it possible to take only an awning on the route, if the weather permits and there is no abundance of midges in the area.
Alternatives to the Nordisk Lofoten 2 ULW tent
Nordisk Telemark 2 LW is the "big brother" of Nordisk Lofoten tents. It is still a minimalistic 950 gram kopeck piece and is suitable for inclement weather, but with more adequate living space. One tourist can sit comfortably inside, two already have to make room. Telemark's tambour is also larger, but at the same time it will not work to cook and store things in it - it is too small. To do this, you have to pull it back on the counter to get a canopy. The Telemark 2 LW version has one vestibule / entrance, while the Telemark 2.2 LW has two, but smaller ones.
