Monopoly Game (2-8 Players)

Why Monopoly is actually a very bad game JUSTIN SULLIVAN / GETTY IMAGES What? Is one of the best-selling board games in history also one of the most unfortunate? Yes, you heard right. The creators of "Monopoly" made a number of unforgivable blunders, one of which is the incredible length of the gameplay. But there are others, more serious ones. One boring autumn evening (Monday, November 27, 1961), University of Pittsburgh students Eddie Leeds, Howard Finkel, Allen Polenoff, and Sherman Vogel decided to play Monopoly. After spending several hours behind the playing field, they decided to combine resources and form two teams. And they continued to play. Late in the evening, when it became clear that the game was not even going to end, the students decided that now it was too late to retreat - it was necessary to figure out how long they would be able to play at all. Leeds called the local radio station K Monopoly Game (2-8 Players) DKA and said they wanted to set the record. At three o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, journalists came to them. By Wednesday morning, the record seemed to be in danger: the bank had run out of money. The players sent a telegram to Parker Brothers, then the producers of Monopoly (later taken over by Hasbro). As the media reported then, the students received a telegram from the president of the company: "We will not let the bank empty. We are sending you a million monopoly dollars by air mail. Keep playing." The toy money arrived at Pittsburgh International Airport and was delivered in a collection vehicle. Four students accidentally stumbled upon an interesting loophole in Monopoly: the money in the bank cannot run out. Now this is spelled out in the rules of the game. But do not have hopes for a cash-in-transit car full of money that will come to you every time. According to the rules, when the money runs out, the bank can start issuing IOUs that can be exchanged for money when the bank's solvency is restored. Soon, journalists from Life magazine, the Wall Street Journal and the local TV station were already crowding the dorm where the game was taking place. Everyone wanted to witness the record to document it. https://jiji.ug/kampala/books-and-games/monopoly-game-2-8-players-gcVMcQFzEfztnxnwS14Zioye.html
